Casten Outed as Climate Hypocrite

Casten Outed as Climate Hypocrite

This morning, Jeanne Ives, a Republican candidate for Congress (IL-6), issued the following statement  in response to a article exposing Casten's investments in a biomass company:
"The political left would have us believe that Sean Casten is the Sheldon Cooper of climate science. In reality, he is the Elizabeth Holmes." said Ives. "Positioned as a prolific climate scientist by his party - and himself -  Casten is making money off a wood-burning biomass company, Greenleaf Power LLC."
And recall:  Some climate change panel members are literally invested in the issue

Ives' campaign machine picks up where it left off

Ives' campaign machine picks up where it left off: Just days after making her announcement to run against U.S. Rep. Sean Casten (D-Downers Grove) in the 6th Congressional District, Jeanne Ives is already basking in the glow of being a known commodity.

City Journal: The Red Decade, Redux Journalist Eugene Lyons’s chronicle of the 1930s Left remains startlingly relevant toda

File this under Books to Read:
It may be that the best book that will ever be written about today’s progressive mind-set was published in 1941. That in The Red Decade author Eugene Lyons was, in fact, describing the Communist-dominated American Left of the Depression-wracked 1930s and 1940s makes his observations even more meaningful, for it is sobering to be confronted with how little has been gained by hard experience. The celebration of feelings over reason? The certainty of moral virtue? The disdain for tradition and the revising of history for ideological ends? The embrace of the latest definition of correct thought? Lyons was one of the most gifted reporters of his time, and among the bravest, and his story of the spell cast by Stalinist-tinged social-justice activism over that day’s purported best and brightest—literary titans, Hollywood celebrities, leading academics, religious leaders, media heavies—would be jaw-dropping if it weren’t so eerily familiar.

Jeffery Barrett: Without Elitist Racialism, There Is Little Racism

The link: We are living in a country where the racialist political elites and their media allies are fomenting the fear of racism in a society in which race distinction has never been of so little importance.

Baar's 5 & 10 Grand Opening on 103rd Street

Advertisement for the Grand Opening of my Family's Dime Store on 103rd Street.  I'm guessing this was mid 1950s.  The ad is undated and I'd have to dig through papers to find the date it opened.  It replaced an earlier store on the same block my Grandfather opened in 1943.
