Treasurer Rutherford supports 2nd Amendment Rights

An email from Rutherford explaining his stand on 2nd Amendment Rights.  Kind of balances all of the Rauner stuff I've been posting lately.  Never a word from the pundits about a Joe Walsh run for Gov... ever notice that?

> Dear Bill,
>
> As a state legislator, I was consistently conscious of our Constitutional rights. My support of lawful gun owners' rights continues as your Illinois State Treasurer.
>
> As State Treasurer, I have used the state-wide stage to advocate for jobs and a rational government budget. I support background checked and trained, licensed conceal carry. I feel that as long as there is a FOID card requirement in Illinois, the processing should be efficient such that applicants do not have an unreasonable delay in receiving their card, especially before hunting season.
>
> I am an outdoorsman, a camper, a hunter, and a long time holder of a FOID card. I believe that the tragic gun violence we have seen can, in part, be addressed with mental illness assistance, jobs in the abundantly high unemployment areas, and opportunities for education with enhanced vocational training.
>
> I have been asked by sportsmen, community leaders, elected officials, union members, veterans and people I have never met to run for Governor. I have thought long and hard about this challenge from both a campaign perspective and that of governing. Neither would be easy in Illinois.
>
> I believe Illinois deserves a financially sound state government, an improved business climate, a stronger educational system, affordable services for our less fortunate and elderly, safe neighborhoods, a leader who shows appreciation for our natural resources and one we can trust. Illinois needs a Governor to help repair our state and make it a place where our families will want to stay for future generations.
>
> A generous gift to our political fund will be the financial bedrock for the Campaign Committee and our run for Governor. Your contribution, at the highest level possible, is essential for this next step. Now is the time to make the investment. I can tell you that we are putting the framework together for Governor.
>
> An announcement by me and my family will be forthcoming. I ask for your help.
