Another Governor Comes After Illinois Jobs
Chicago, IL – The Miami Herald reports that Florida Governor Rick Scott sent a letter this week to Illinois’ top 100 companies urging them to book a “one way” ticket to Florida, where taxes are low, the unemployment rate has dropped and the state’s debt is being paid down.
“It’s obvious that the failed Quinn-Madigan record of higher taxes and deeper debt has unfortunately made Illinois’ businesses top targets for other states. Illinois simply cannot afford to lose any more jobs – our state now has the second highest unemployment rate in the entire nation,” said Bruce Rauner. “The fact is we have tremendous resources ready to be tapped and incredibly talented and diverse people ready to work, but our economy is losing ground because of the problems caused by the Quinn-Madigan agenda in Springfield. It’s time to turn our economy around so an Illinois company would never want to leave.”
