Walsh/Duckworth race may be closer than expected - Blogs On Politics - Crain's Chicago Business

Heard Pete Sessions say on WLS yesterday that 8th was a D+6 district so if this is anywhere near true, it’s quite an achievement for Walsh.

That race for Congress in the new northwest suburban 8th District may be turning out to be a lot closer than a lot of insiders expect.

Democrats have been counting on Tammy Duckworth to thump incumbent Joe Walsh, a tea party favorite who has garnered some of the world's worst media coverage lately. But GOP sources have been buzzing this week that a new poll shows the race to be a near dead heat.

The survey reportedly was taken in late August by the Tarrance Group, an Alexandria, Va.-based firm that usually works for Republicans. According to a source who has seen it, it shows Ms. Duckworth up just 47 percent to 45 percent.
