Illinois to decide on essential health benefits

Public comments on the benchmark health benefits plan — required for every state as part of the federal Affordable Care Act — will be accepted Wednesday through Sept. 19 by Gov. Pat Quinn’s administration.
The governor’s Health Care Reform Implementation Council, made up of heads of various state agencies controlled by Quinn, will begin hearing commentsduring meetings Wednesday in Chicago and Springfield.
The Springfield meeting, which will take place from 3 to 6 p.m., will be in Room 349-C of the Capitol Development Board’s office in the Stratton Building.
