Kane County Chronicle | County chair candidates clash on taxes, spending, ethics

KC covers the County Board Debates. I like having all four candidates: Democrat and Republican together for this.  Anyways, regarding the ethics code, and Kane County’s lack of one at the moment, Klinkhamer says

Klinkhamer, however, said any ethics complaints should simply be taken to the state’s attorney for action.

Kane County Chronicle | County chair candidates clash on taxes, spending, ethics

I sort of get that.  I would expect competitors losing on contracts and suspecting foul play would know how to do that.  Somehow or another though, I don’t think it’s all that simple.  Citzens need a standard, posted on the web, we can use to evaluate the board and chairs actions.  We need some lines drawn for us.  Not just what’s illegal; but what’s unethical too.
