AFL-CIO Decides Against Endorsement In 8th District Race | Progress Illinois

Via SEIU’s Progress Illinois: AFL-CIO Decides Against Endorsement In 8th District Race | Progress Illinois

The AFL-CIO voted not to make an endorsement in the race between Democratic candidates Tammy Duckworth and Raja Krishnamoorthi in the 8th congressional district, according to the Krishnamoorthi campaign. Capitol Fax is reporting that Krishnamoorthi fell a few votes short of winning the endorsement.

Nonetheless, Krishnamoorthi's campaign is pleased with the union's decision, also alleging that "there was a strong, coordinated effort from the D.C. establishment to force local unions to endorse Washington’s favored candidate, Tammy Duckworth," according to a press release

Duckworth’s also picked up an endorsement from Teamsters Joint Council 25 while Krishnamoorthi’s picked up endorsements from Illinois State Senators: Noland, Crispo, and Mussman.

Looks like locals against Washington to me.
