Geronimo, Bin Laden, and the Dutch Reformed Church

Zorn ponders the choice Geronimo noting
The top staffer for the Senate Indian Affairs Committee is objecting to the U.S. military's use of the code name "Geronimo" for Osama bin Laden during the raid that killed the al-Qaida leader.
The Dutch in me had a problem too knowing,
Several years later, in 1894, he [Geronimo] was moved to Fort Sill in Oklahoma Territory where he attempted to "fit in.” He farmed and joined the Dutch Reformed Church, which expelled him because of his inability to resist gambling.
Seems like a better choice of names could have been found other than this fellow American's.
