Whatever the length, this piece would have served readers better had it employed the classic five-W formulation of the straightforward beginning of a news article: Who (we the editors), What (denounce some things we’ve published), When (in the past year), Where (from Iraq) and Why (because they don’t stand up under investigation).I think it's called keep it simple.
