“Chicago is an October sort of city even in spring.”
― Nelson Algren, Chicago: City on the Make
that's disgusting! is it a wide-spread phenomenon? i mean apart from the ridicolous stuff they say about gays, but to go along to the funeral... how does one become like that?
Welcome Nullo.. not sure how much you know about our State of Illinois, but Rev Phelps has been very active protesting at funerals.I have no idea how one get's worked up into this kind of state of mind. There are just a handful of his followers but they get coverage and do damage to the families of the fallen. It's extremely difficult to stop him and his group because of our traditions of free-speech and protest.
Hi Bill; admittedly, i don't know very much about the state of illinois; i was on my way there in january, but didnt make it in the end...i suppose they cannot be stopped, yes. but there is something about funerals, and im not religious, that they themselves are supposed to be the first to respectim non-violent, but i really dont know what i would do if one these people showed up at the funeral of a friend of mine killed in action...it is a free speech issue, yes, but it is also, or may become, a security issue. haven't things ever got badly wrong yet?
